We Miss You Already Aunt Mo

It was sad to see her go. I just have to keep telling myself that we will get to see our family even though we are far away. We had a fantastic visit; not sure the last time we got to spend that much time together. Dad even got brave and let us have some sister time at the winery. We also took the girls to a nearby pumpkin patch.

Strolling Along the Columbia River

Tears of Joy

Two Month Checkup

The girls are 10 weeks old this past Tuesday. They had their two month checkup that day and are growing like gangbusters; both 11 pounds now. They had one shot and tolerated it much better than Mom and Aunt Mo expected. We took the photo before heading out into the cold, rainy weather.

Quality Time with Aunt Mo & Uncle Kudzayi

Nora and Brenna met their Uncle Kudzayi via Skype on Tuesday.  Nora was so excited she slept most of the time.  Brenna ("B Rose") was talking his ear off and showing him how she can spit up.  We had a low key weekend at home with Aunt Mo as she adjusted to life with her precious nieces.

Aunt Mo!!!

Aunt Mo is the fastest diaper changer the Western Kwartlers have ever seen; she is a professional after all (professional nanny not just diaper changer:).  The girls melted her heart at first sight as they do for all of us.  It's also her first visit to the Pacific Northwest so we are going to try to get out and see some sights if Nora and Brenna are interested.

Awkward Family Photo

Just kidding, not awkward yet (in my opinion).  I'm sure we will have those in the future though.  It was a special occasion - we took the sheet off the couch (only for a moment though).

9 Weeks!

Where does the time go?  I can't even keep up on what day of the week it is.  The girls are 9 weeks as of this past Tuesday (photo from that day when they were looking at their Dad <3).  They are moving and making lots of sounds.  I've been taking a lot of videos and can't directly upload them from my iphone to the blog hence the lack of blog posts.  Videos to come soon!

Brenna and Nora have been happily sleeping for longer stretches without eating (6-8 hrs!) during the night which delights Ted and I.  I have been reading about the vaccines scheduled for their 2 month checkup (next week).  We started having two nap times in their cribs and just realized how much they love the mobiles.  I know some of you were interested in how the inducing lactation project is going.  My milk never appeared and I don't want to take the stronger medications that works for others, but we are still enjoying comfort nursing.  I'm glad I tried though.

Farewell Grandma Trish (the elephant trainer)

Some of you may know that Grandma Trish loves to dress in bright colors and when she does Grandpa Yitz will tease her and ask her if she is going to train elephants.  Somewhere through the years this elephant vest entered the situation.  Since we decorated the nursery with elephants the natural result are these photos before Grandma Trish's departure Tuesday morning.  We are grateful for all of her hard work!  We are looking forward for the Kwartler Grandparents to return for the December holidays.

1 Fish 2 Fish 8 1/2 Weeks

A former co-worker of Grandma Trish made these adorable shirts for the girls.  We meant to take these photos on their 8 week birthday, but finding time when both Nora and Brenna are not hungry, not spitting up, awake, and there is no essential prep work for the adults to do is challenging.

Sleeping In and Practice

Grandma Trish has been handling the morning shift by herself and letting me sleep for a few more hours.  It has been glorious.  I slept until 11AM two days this week!!!

We went to the mall yesterday to get some warmer clothes for the girls since fall has definitely arrived.  They  got hungry and had trouble eating in a place with so much distraction.  We found a spot outside in the shade to feed them as we stood up and felt like it was not a successful trip.  We anticipated Nora and Brenna to be upset when we got back home.  Boy, were we wrong.  They were happy as clams hanging out on the guest room bed; cooing and kicking their legs together.  I was reminded that we are all practicing; practicing taking two babies out in public as a new mom and grandma.  Practice often isn't easy, but it's rewarding.  We have to practice to refine and get better so maybe we will go to the mall again someday :)  I also did some yoga practice last night which was glorious as well.

First Retail Experience

We decided to get brave and take the girls to Target.  Fifteen minutes in Brenna decides she does not like her car seat.  Thank goodness for the Moby and a random chair in the Men's sock area.  We got even braver and fed them in the cafe before we left in an attempt to not rush home.  Obviously this retail trip would occur during Grandma Trish's visit and was a resounding success for everyone.
