Thanksgiving

Yes, it's New Years & I'm posting about an event a month ago.  I'm catching up!  I'm not 2 months behind anymore :)

Aunt Maureen & Uncle Kudzayi came to visit for Thanksgiving before they departed for a three week trip in Africa.  The Rutland McColls were so generous & hosted us all again.  Brenna & Nora were memorized by the Frozen movie that was playing (their first sneak peak).  Somehow for the second year in a row I didn't get a photo with Jim included!

First Snowman

Just before Thanksgiving we got a fair amount of snow.  The girls had a blast building a snowman & didn't want to come back inside.  Eating the snow was a treat as well.

Halloween

I put a fair amount of effort to make Nora & Brenna's costumes this year.  Nora said she wanted to be an elephant & Brenna wouldn't specify so I picked a mouse.  They had fun playing with pieces of the costume leading up to Halloween, but wanted NOTHING to do with them when we went to our neighborhood party at the clubhouse.  They were extremely mesmerized by the other kid's costumes & sometimes a little scared.  They did have a blast handing out "treats" to the Trick or Treaters who came to our door.  They haven't had candy yet & mom is trying to keep it that way, but they definitely liked the apple cider at the party.

October was Grandparent month

We had visits from both Nanna & Backa as well as Grandma Trish & Saba.  When the Kellys were here Backa & I took a quick trip to NH cottage to scrape wallpaper & remove carpet from one of the bedrooms.  We will finish that project in the spring.  Ted & I also went out to celebrate our belated 6th anniversary.

When the Kwartlers came to visit we took a quick drive to Nashua to check out the brand new Whole Foods....drool.  We also went over to Walden Pond, but the girls were not interested in hiking as much as playing in the chilly water so that trip was short.

Hello Winter Playground

We are raising tough new englanders.  35 degrees won't keep us from getting fresh air outside.  Brenna & Nira were memorized by the neighbor boys throwing the football.

Pumpkin Patch

We went to pick out pumpkins at a nearby patch on an unusually warm October day.  The tractor and wagon were obviously big hits.  Brenna was intrigued by a bumpy gourd & insisted we take it home. The girls were less interested in carving the big pumpkin at home with Ted after they felt the squishy pulp inside.

New Hampshire Labor Day

Where did September and October go?  I can tell you October was unusually busy - even for our standards.  Ted was out of town or we had out of town guests the entire month.  Not to mention my work project go-live at the end of the month.  We are all recovering well after 2 quiet weekends at home.  Bring on the holidays :)

We spent a week at the NH cottage around Labor Day with the Kelly/Mubaiwa clan.  Brenna and Nora couldn't get enough of watering the garden.  Uncle K showed Brenna how to throw acorns in the lake - her new favorite activity.  Nora had a blast wading in the water - going up and down the steps with various buckets.

One of the days we ventured down to the NH coast.  The girls had a blast flying their kites again and we got lobsters for dinner - yum.

The last day we spotted a family of loons teaching their baby to fish.  Brenna & Nora were thrilled.  I love to see life through their eyes.
